Abstract
PURPOSE: To change the color of the printing ribbon depending on a movement driving source of a carrier without requiring any specialized drive source by shifting a printing ribbon frame and a carrier over a printing range and then, moving the frame up and down rotatively.
CONSTITUTION: The carrier 6 is shifted within a printing range and a printing is performed with the printing ribbon 1 on the black side. To switch it to the red side, the carrier 6 is shifted to the right beyond the printing range. But at this point, a frame lifting member 8 has to run over a ribbon set 13 and hence, the printing ribbon frame is lifted turning on the fulcrums 5 and 5'. Consequently, a ratchet pin 10 is raised too, so that the frame 4 is ratchted with a frame ratchet 9 to the red ribbon side.
EFFECT: Printers can be made smaller and more inexpensive.
