Abstract
PURPOSE: To improve a liquid chromatograph mass analyzer in analyzing efficiency by providing a vacuum separation chamber provided with an injection nozzle having an ultrasonic vibrator and the like in the ionization chamber.
CONSTITUTION: Provided in an ionization chamber 10 is a vacuum separation chamber 17 provided with a suction nozzle 18 on one side and an injection nozzle 19 equipped with an ultrasonic vibrator 20, conducting plate 21 and cooling pipe 22 on the other side. Thus, with a splitter 8 adjusted, the liquid flowing out of a liquid chromatograph 1 whose flow quantity is restricted within the limit of an ion source 9 is sprayed into the vacuum separation chamber 17 through the injection nozzle 19. The more volatile component flows through an exhaust pipe 23, and the less volatile component in a concentrated state, which is the sample component, flows through the suction nozzle 18 into the ionization chamber 10, where the component is ionized by the electron impact. Applying the ultrasonic vibration directly to the injection nozzle 19 permits the liquid flowing out to become mist whose each particle has a microscopic diameter, so that the liquid can be continuously and efficiently introduced to a mass spectrometer.
