Abstract

NEW MATERIAL:A 1-substituted imidazole derivative of formula I [R is 1W10C alkyl, 5W7C cycloalkyl, phenyl or phenoxyalkyl; A is ethylene or trans-vinylene; Y is oxo (=0) or group formula II.
EXAMPLE: 1-(3-Oxo-1-trans-octenyl)imidazole.
USE: Medicine having pharmacological activities relating to inflammation, e.g. blood platelet coagulation suppressing and thromboxane A2 biosynthesis inhibiting actions, and useful for the prevention of cardiovascular infarction, prevention of post-operative thrombosis, promotion of patency of the transplanted vessel after surgical operation, and remedy for atheroscelrosis, etc.
PROCESS: A compound of formula I wherein A is vinylene and Y is oxo can be prepared by reacting an enone of formula III (X is halogen) with imidazole pref. in a solvent at -20W+100°C. The compound thus prepared can be converted to another compound of formula I wherein A and Y are those other than specified above by reducing with a reducing agent such as lithium aluminum hydride.
