Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce forming strain and prevent an increase in optical transmission loss by using specified polyether ester amide as a primary and/or secondary coating material for an optical fiber core strand.
CONSTITUTION: Polyether ester amide produced from ≥10C ω-aminocarboxylic acid or lactamm, α,ω-dihydroxy-polytetrahydrofuran with 160W3,000mol.wt. and dicarboxylic acid is used as a primary and/or secondary coating material for an optical fiber core strand for transmission. Using this coating material a 100W500μ coat is uniformly formed on an optical fiber core strand of ≤about 200μ diameter with high efficiency. Crystallization after the coating produces no forming strain, so an increase in optical transmission loss is prevented. In addition, a tough superior optical fiber cable for transmission with high dimensional stability, hygroscopic stability and heat resistance (heat deterioration at 80W100°C and hot and cold cycle deterioration) is obtd.
