Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve the adhesion of a brake shoe and minimize its separation by providing an interposed layer, which serves to absorb impact shocks, outside a phenol resin type adhesive applied at the bonding part between a backing metal of a brake and a friction pad.
CONSTITUTION: In a shoe in which a friction pad 2 is adhered to a backing metal 1 with an adhesive layer 3, an interposed layer 4 is provided on the upper face of the backing metal 1. The interposed layer 4 consists of a layer of a phenol resin type adhesive containing 0.5W20wt% of polyvinyl acetal resin incorporated therein. Then, on the interposed layer 4, is provided the phenol resin type adhesive layer 3 and friction pad 2. In this constitution, it is possible to remarkably enhance the effect of the adhesive layer 3 to the metal surface which effect cannot by expected by ordinary adhesion means. Thus, it is possible to considerably improve the separation resistance of the shoe.
