Abstract

PURPOSE: A specific amine, an epoxy compound and an acrylic or methacrylic alkyl ester, these three components or additionally a phenol, totally four components, are used as a stabilizer to prevent the decomposition of chlorinated hydrocarbones, when they are applied to defat and wash metal products.
CONSTITUTION: Three components, that is, an amine such as dicyclohexylamine or di-isobutylamine, an epoxy compound such as allyl glycidyl ether and an acrylic or methacrylic alkyl ester or additionally a phenyl such as thymol, that is, four components, are used to stabilize chlorinated hydrocarbons such as perchloroethylene. The amounts of each component added range from 0.001 to 0.2% in the amine, 0.005W0.5% in the epoxy compound, 0.005W5% in the ester and 0.001W0.5% in the phenol. The stabilizer inhibits the decomposition of chlorinated hydrocarbons even under drastic conditions for a long period of time such as defatting and washing of metal products to prevent the corrosion.
