Abstract

PURPOSE:To emit a light having predetermined wavelength from a laser diode by detecting the output light wavelength of the laser diode and controlling the operating temperature of the diode when the wavelength is displaced from a reference value. CONSTITUTION:The output light from a laser diode 1 is inputted into a light branching filter 9, and is partly inputted to a prism 5. The light incident to the prism 5 has different rays of rafractive angles in accordance with the wavelengths of the light rays in such a manner that as the wavelength is shortened, it is incident into a photoreceptor 6a while as the wavelength is increased, it is incident to a photoreceptor 6b. The deviation of the electric outputs from the photoreceptors 6a and 6b are amplified by a differential amplifier 7. The output from the amplifier 7 serves to operate a temperature controller 8, thereby controlling the operating temperature of the laser diode 1 so that the amounts of light rays incident to the photoreceptors 6a, 6b may become equal to each other. The wavelength detecting means may include an interference film filter which increases or decreases the loss with respect to the variation in the light wavelength.
