Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain an amine-borane from inexpensive raw materials in high yield through simple procedures in a short time, by reacting an amine salt with NaBH4 in DMF.
CONSTITUTION: A salt of an amine, e.g. tert-butyl-, dimethyl-or diethylamine or morpholine, preferably hydrochloride, is reacted with NaBH4 in a solvent, e.g. DMF, at room temperature or under cooling with ice for 0.5W1.5hr to give an amine-borane. The raw materials are inexpensive and readily handleable, and a special reactor is not required. The DMF is recovered by distillation and reusable very economically.
