Abstract

PURPOSE: To easily provide nice petaline calcium silicate by a method wherein gypsum and alkali silicate is mixed and reacted in aqueous medium, and the obtained solid is cleaned, then is subjected to a hydrothermal reaction.
CONSTITUTION: Gypsum and alkali silicate are reacted in aqueous medium so as to provide reacted solid product mixed with unreacted raw materials and by-produced alkali sulfate. The solid is cleaned to remove unreacted gypsum and alkali sulfate. Then, the solid is added with aqueous medium to form slurry solution, which is treated with hydrothermal reaction to grow calcium silicate or calcium silicate- gypsum complex body. The calcium silicate or calcium silicate-gypsum complex body is separated, and is cleaned, as required, then is dried. In the process for obtaining the above slurry, the total or part of high temperature water obtained in the hydrothermal treatment is preferably is circulated and used.
