Abstract

PURPOSE: To control the amounts of incoming sewage and returned sludge according to the set value of MLSS (microorganism concentration of activated sludge), the amount of incoming sewage, and total amount of sludge for keeping MLSS constant at specific two points inside an aeration tank operates by a step aeration method.
CONSTITUTION: The MLSS meters 4 and 5 are provided at two points inside the aeration tank 1, and as an operating amount for the inflow door 2 for the sewage (a) and the valve 3 for returned sludge, the sums of respective constant values and deviation values, derived from the set values of MLSS, the amount of incoming sewage, and the total amount of sludge, are given in order to keep MLSS constant at the two points. In order to regulate MLSS in the said circuit B, the inflow door 2 is operated to alter MLSS value of the circuit A, whereby eliminating such an interferencial phenomenon as variations of the amount of the returned sludge (e).
