Abstract
PURPOSE: Titled fibers that is made from a polyethylene terephthalate composition resulting from the reaction of a monomer of specific ester therewith, thus being suitably used as a rubber-reinforcing material such as tire cords because they can sustain enough strength even under high speed and high load driving where high temperatures are generated.
CONSTITUTION: (A) A polyester containing ethylene terephthalate as the major recurring unit is combined with (B) 0.5W7wt%, based on component A, of monomer, prepolymer or polymer of ester from dicarboxylic acids having at least one benzene ring such as terephthalic acid and dihydroxy compound such as compound of formula I, II, or III and made to react with each other, thus giving a composition. The resulting composition is melt extruded through spinnerets and drawn.
