Abstract
PURPOSE: To surely prevent the performance of an exhaust gas purifying catalyst from deteriorating due to phosphorus constituents in oil, by providing an adsorbent in the cartridge-type oil filter of an engine to adsorb the phosphorus constituents.
CONSTITUTION: A cartridge-type oil filter unit 3, which is attached to the body of an engine having an exhaust gas purifying catalyst in the exhaust system, has a cylindrical casing 5 consisting of an outer cylinder 5a and an inner cylinder 5b which have numerous holes and are located upstream to a filter 4. An adsorbent A capable of adsorbing phosphorus constituents in oil is contained in the cylindrical casing 5. After the phosphorus constituents in the engine lubricating oil introduced from the oil circulating passage of the body of the engine 1 through an oil inlet port 6 are adsorbed and removed by the adsorbent A while the oil is flowing in the direction of an arrow shown in the drawing, the oil is removed of dust by the filter 4 and then discharged through an outlet port 7.
