Abstract

PURPOSE:To perform color discrimination by use of a simple circuit, by generating a differential output when there is a level difference of color component in a reflected light photodetecting signal of the body to be detected, and performing color discrimination by use of said differential output. CONSTITUTION:A signal C which has been reflected by the body 4 to be detected, has made incidence to the photodetector 5 and has passed through the amplifying circuit 6 consists of consecutive red and green components, and when the body 4 is red, the green component level is low and a level difference is produced. When this level difference has been produced, an output is generated from the differentiating circuit 11. This output is included in the period of a pulse signal (b). On the other hand, a differential output which is generated at the rise and breaking parts of an output signal (e) containing both colors of the circuit 6 is excluded from the range of the pulse width. Accordingly, only the differential output in case when the level difference has been produced can be taken out by giving the gate to an output signal (d) of the circuit 11 by the signal (b), and a signal (f) showing that the body 4 is red can be obtained by making the signal (e) obtained as mentioned above through the output circuit 10.
