Abstract

PURPOSE:To recover efficiently dried coal having a low water content, by a method wherein a mineral oil is added to a slurry of raw coal, the resulting slurry is transported through a pipe line while granulating, coarse particulate coal and granulated coal are drawn out from bottom, and ungranulated pulverized coal is withdrawn as overflow. CONSTITUTION:Coal 2 in a ship 1 is slurried in water from a water tank 3. The slurry is transferred to a mixer 6 where the slurry is mixed with a mineral oil from an oil tank 7. Pulverized coal having a particle diameter of not more than 1mm. is agglomerated, granulated and transferred to a storage tank 10 where a slurry contg. granulated coal and coarse particulate coal having a particle diameter of 1-30mm. settles out, and pulverized coal is overflowed. The slurry contg. coal having a larger diameter is drawn out from the bottom of the storage tank 10 and is supplied to a dehydrator 12 where the coal is recovered as dehydrated large-grain coal 13. A slurry of the pulverized coal again settles out and is recovered as dehydrated pulverized coal 17 in a dehydrator 12'. A small amount of pulverized coal and ash which are present in water from the dehydrator 12 are separated in a receiver tank 18. Pulverized coal-contg. water is returned to a concentration tank 15. The ash 20 is recovered as a solid. Water from the dehydrator 12' is treated in the same manner.
