Abstract

PURPOSE: To suppress work hardening of blank material and prevent the cracking and surface roughening of the edge bent part by specifying the radius of bending of corners in down flange process.
CONSTITUTION: A plate comprising aluminum or aluminum alloy is used for the material of an outer panel 1, and in order to form a flange necessary for edge bending through a drawing process and a trimming process, these are so executed that the radius R of bending of the flange corner part to be formed in he down flange process becomes at least 0.8T (where T is the thickness of the outer panel 1). Next, an inner panel 2 is inserted and the edge of flange is bent in a prehemming process. In the final hemming process, the edge bent part is crushed to flat surface to make flat hem or is subjected to edge bending having roundness to make lobed hem.
