Abstract

PURPOSE: To facilitate the assembly operation and prevent water leakage by providing a hemming section at an air inlet.
CONSTITUTION: A panel 2 is provided with a number of slits 4 to constitute an air inlet. A waterproof member 8 provided below a cover 16 has an air inlet opening, which is located at a higher level than the underside 15 of the dash panel upper 5, so that water entering form the slits 4 is prevented from going into the interior of the vehicle. A hemming section 10A is provided round a lower portion of the waterproof member 8, and a downwardly flaring flange 12A is provided at a position corresponding to the underside 15 of the dash panel upper. The two are in a close contact clamping relation to each other by means of a press, thus forming a clampedly coupled section 13A. Since the mounting structure of the waterproof section is formed by the sole press operation, the number of steps can be reduced, and also the seal material can be dispensed with.
