Abstract

NEW MATERIAL:A compound shown by the formula I [R' is a group shown by the formula II (X is Cl or Br; m is 1W4) or group shown by the formula III (Y is not present, or 1W6C alkylene, etc.; n is 1W4); R5 is R2, R3, or R4 (R2, R3, and R4 are alkyl)].
EXAMPLE: N, N, N', N'-Tetraacetyl-3, 5, 3', 5'-tetrabromo-4,4'-diaminodiphenylmethane.
USE: A flame-retardant having improved light-resistance, whitemess, and compatibility with polyamide.
PROCESS: 1 Mole nucleus halogenated aromatic diamine (e.g., 2-bromo-m-phenylnediamine, etc.) shown by the formula H2N-R'-NH2 is blended with at least 4 mole acid anhydride (e.g., acetic anhydride, etc.) shown by the formula or acid chloride (e.g., acetyl chloride, etc.) shown by the formula R4COCl, and kept at not lower than 105°C at least 10min so that they are reacted to give a compound shown by the formula I.
