Abstract
PURPOSE: To prevent firing of paper by immediately turning OFF a heater or high- voltage power source that impairs the safety of apparatus upon detecting of paper jam and stopping a drive motor after the paper has been discharged to outside the machine with a slight delay after this.
CONSTITUTION: Copying material on a paper feed platen 11 is conveyed by a feed roller 12, conveying rollers 13, 14 and conveying belt means 15, 16 and is sent to a paper discharge tray 19 by passing through a fixing means 9 having a heater H. A jam safety device including jam detectnig means is disposed between this paper feeding up to paper discharging. A timer circuit is provided in combination to the jam safety device and in a normal conveying state the timer circuit does not operate. Whereas, if it is assumed that the transfer material jams or delays on account of a certain reason, the motor H goes OFF but the motor M continues to run thereby discharging the delayed transfer material. After this the delay timer circuit operates to operate a buzzer BZ so that the operator notices the jam and turns OFF the electric power source SW etc., hence safety is assured.
