Abstract

PURPOSE: To prepare a highly stereospecific polypropylene, suppressing the amount of amorphous polymer by-product, by the use of a highly active polymerization catalyst comprising an activated titanium trichloride composition, an organo- aluminum compound and a phosphite compound.
CONSTITUTION: Propylene, or propylene and ethylene and/or ≥4C α-olefin are (co)polymerized using a catalyst composed of (A) a composition obtained by reducing TiCl4 with an organo-aluminum compound, and pref. activated with a Lewis base, etc., (B) an organo-aluminum compound of formula R2AlX (R is 1W18C hydrocarbon; X is halogen), and (C) 0.01W0.5mol, based on 1mol of the component (A), of a phosphite compound of formula P(OR)3 (R is 1W30C hydrocarbon), under the condition that the amount of polymerization is ≥8,000g/1g of the component (A).
