Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain the captioned mechanism capable of changing the feeding quantity of the ribbon according to its kind, by providing a mechanism for discriminating a cassette whereon a changed-form part indicating the kind of the ink ribbon contained in the cassette is provided, as well as a drive-controlling circuit controlling the feeding quantity of the ribbon based on a signal from the discriminating mechanism.
CONSTITUTION: The changed-form part corresponding to the kind of the ink ribbon contained in the ink ribbon cassette 1 is provided on the cassette, thereby the kind is indicated. The changed-form part is distinguished, for instance, based on whether a projection 4 is present or not. When such a cassette 1 is charged in the ink ribbon feeding mechanism, the presence of the projection 4 is detected by a microswitch 8 and the selection of data 18 or 19 determining the rotational quantity of a stepping motor 9 for feed driving is conducted.
