Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain the captioned device whereby the printed lines can be detected correctly by providing a means for conveying a printing medium, a light source for illuminating the means, a plurality of light-receiving elements for receiving the reflected light and a means for discriminating the printed lines.
CONSTITUTION: A unit 7 for detecting the printed lines is provided on the route of a conveyor belt for the printing medium 1 (e.g. a slip). The detecting unit 7 is provided with a light source 8 and a plurality of light-receiving elements 9aW9d around the light source. When the printing medium 1 is conveyed and there is a printed line thereon, this is first detected by the light receiving-element 9c and a pulse 10c is given. Then, it is detected by te light-receiving elements 9b and 9d and pulses 10b and 10d are given. Next, when the printed line on the medium 1 comes to the position opposite to the light-receiving element 9a, a pulse 10a is also given. These pulses are transmitted to the discriminating means, where the printed lines are discriminated. When at least two or more of the pulses 10a, 10b and 10d are generated in correspondence to one printed line, for instance, the line is discriminated to be printed.
