Abstract

PURPOSE: To simplify the changing operation of a tool and to reduce the changing time thereof by a method wherein a locking device is arranged either on the tapered part of the tool or in the tapered hole provided on a rotary main shaft in order to insert the tool.
CONSTITUTION: A locking device, that is, a clockwisely-wound spring 3 and a counterclockwisely-wound one 4, is arranged in a ring groove 2b on a tapered hole 2a at a rotary main shaft 2 part inserting the tapered part 1a of a tool 1. The hook at one end of each spring is caught by a stopper 2c. When the tool 1 is inserted into the hole 2a, each spring is expanded, a balancing force appears to hold the tapered part 1a so that the tool 1 will not be slipped out. At this time, the projection 1c of the tool 1 is held by a fixing collet 6.
