Abstract
PURPOSE: To improve the coke strength with simple sieving procedures, by classifying a coal rich in active components and the one poor in active components separately with sieves each having specific mesh sizes, crushing the plus sieve particles of each sieve to particles finer than specific size, and using the fine particles as the raw materials.
CONSTITUTION: Coal 26 rich in active components (coal containing ≤20vol% of minerals such as fusinite) is classified with a sieve 28 which passes coal particles having the maximum diameter of 4W10mm, and the minus sieve component is used as a raw material without further treatment. The plus sieve component of the sieve 28 is subjected repeatedly to the crushing with a crusher 31 and sieving with the sieve 28, and the sieved particles are used as the raw material. On the other hand, coal 27 poor in active components is classified with a sieve 29 having meshes similar to those of the sieve 28, and the minus sieve component is mixed with the above-obtained raw materials. The plus sieve component of the sieve 29 is subjected repeatedly to the crushing with a crusher 31 and the sieving with a sieve 30 which passes the particles having the maximum diameter of 1W3mm, and the sieved particles are mixed with the raw materials.
