Abstract
PURPOSE: To increase the intensity of light emission of a fluorescent material, remarkably (about 100 times), by treating the fluorescent material at specific high temperature and pressure.
CONSTITUTION: The intensity of light emission of a fluorescent material such as (Sr, Mg)2P2O7:Eu2+, etc. can be increased by 3W100 times by treating at 200W 1,200°C under a pressure of 500W50,000atm. for 1W6 hours. For example, SrCO3: Eu3+ obtained by the reaction of Sr(NO3)2 with a mixture of EuCl3 and (NH4)2 CO3, is mixed with H3BO3 thoroughly, and reacted in hydrogen stream at 1,000°C for 3 hours. The reaction product is ground to fine powder. The light emission intensity of the powder can be increased by about 100 times by treating at 700°C under a pressure of 30,000atm for 1 hour.
