Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve picture quality by compressing the band and time of a horizontal video signal section and superposing a sound PCM signal in the specific section of a specific line while a video signal in the specific section of other lines. CONSTITUTION:LPF12 separates a luminance signal from the output of A/D converter 11 and HPF13 separates a color signal from the output of converter 11. Then, sampling circuit 14 samples the output of LPF12 and stores the data in buffer memory 15, and a signal obtained by delaying 16 the color signal passed through HPF13 and its phase-inverted signal are added and averaged at 18, whose output is added 19 to the output of buffer 15. The output of circuit 19, the output of converter 11 passed through buffer 20 and an audio signal passed through buffer 21 are sent to D/A23 under switching control 22. Consequently, the band and time of the horizontal video signal section are compressed to superpose the sound PCM signal in the specific section of a specific line while superposing the video signal in the specific section of other lines, so that the picture quality can be improved.
