Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve an SN ratio by finding a subsegment that includes the largest sampled value of sampled values in one block of an input signal and by multiplying sampled values in the block by a coefficient that corresponds to it. CONSTITUTION:A PCM code from input terminal 101 is led to maximum-segment- number extracting circuit 107 as well as delay circuit 102 that remembers an input signal for one block of N samples. Circuit 107 sends a coefficient, which corresponds to a subsegment including the greatest sampled value, to multiplier 105. The output of circuit 102 is supplied to multiplier 105 by way of nonlinear/linear converting circuit 103 and shift circuit 104 and after it is multipled by the coefficient value from circuit 107, truncating circuit 106 truncates the high-order bits to send a new sampled value to the output terminal. This method improves the SN ratio and lessens variations due to the input level.
