Abstract
PURPOSE: To make possible a handy measurement with a better quantitativeness of the intended multilayer analyzing element, by providing, on the surface of light- transmitting support member, a reagent layer comprising a hydrophilic colloidal substance containing a reagent and, further thereon, a fibrous porous carrier layer.
CONSTITUTION: One or more reagent layers comprising a hydrophilic colloidal substance containing one or more reagents reacting with components in the fluid sample are provided on one side of a liquid-impermeable light-transmitting support member. On the side of the reagent layer opposite to the support member, are provided one or more fibrous porous carrier layers adapted to permeate color- developing components through the reagent layers. A liquid sample, for example, body liquid to be analyzed is dropped on the porous carrier layer of the multilayer analyzing element. The color reaction area of the reagent layer is affected in proportion to the sample volume attached, but the color concentration is not affected substantially and is constant per unit area. Since there is little chromatographic phenomenon, the quantitative analysis of specific components in the body fluid or the like can be done simply by means of a normal spectrophotometer from the support member side.
