Abstract

PURPOSE: To connect various sizes of tubes at a moderate cost by constituting a spacer provided on tube terminals of a layer wound with an elastic tape in a connecting method for plastic tubes by means of a sleeve of thermal contractility.
CONSTITUTION: An elastic tape 5mm or so in thickness is used which consists of a material contractile both in length and thickness directions (porous material like foam plastic, for example.) Namely, with a connection 2 formed by connecting a pair of plastic tubes 1A, 1B held between them, spacers of suitabel thickness are formed by winding an elastic tape 5 on terminals of each tube. Next, a hollow cylindrical sleeve 4 of thermal contractility which is inserted in one of the tubes beforehand is fitted outside said elastic tape 5 (spacer), both ends of the sleeve 4 are heated, and then the sleeve 4 is adhered to the tubes 1A, 1B by havng its terminals contracted against an elasticity of the tape 5.
