Abstract
PURPOSE: To reduce the operating cost in dry desulfurization by a method wherein the adsorbed SO2 is desorbed from semicoke adsorbing SO2 in an exhaust gas and the generated desorbed gas is used to carry out the activation of the semicoke and the reduction of the desorbed gas to S simultaneously.
CONSTITUTION: SO2 in an exhaust gas of a boiler 100 using coal as a fuel is introduced to an adsorbing tower 101 to be adsorbed by semicoke. The adsorbed semicoke is introduced to a desorbing tower 104 to desorb SO2 by heating and the regenerated semicoke is reused as well as the desorbed gas with a high temp. is used in the activating furnace 103 of the semicoke and H2 in the gas is utilized to reduce SO2 to S, thereafter S is recovered in a condenser 106. On the other hand, a part of coal is dry distilled in a dry distillation furnace 9 and, subsequently, activated by the desorbed gas as described above in the activating furnace 103, thereafter utilized in the adsorbing tower 1. Moreover, the exhaust gas of the boiler 100 is utilized in the aforementioned activating furnace 103, or uncondensed substance of the condenser 106 is pref. introduced into the boiler 100.
