Abstract

PURPOSE: To achieve the prevention of erroneous manual setting, the reduction of the operators' burden and the higher efficiency of work by inputting the thickness of steel plates into a computer, having the welding conditions suited to the plate thickness automatically selected out of welding conditions and outputting these to a welding machine.
CONSTITUTION: Welding conditions having been determined for every range of steel plate thicknesses re beforehand stored in a computer 5. Next, the thickness of the steel plates 2 and 3 to be welded are measured with a steel plate thickness measuring device 4 and the measured values thereof are inputted to the computer 5. Receiving these inputs, the computer 5 selects the welding current and mode suited for the thicknesses of the steel plates 2, 3, further automatically selects the respective preset welding conditions and transmits these to a welding machine 1. The welding machine 1 performs welding by receiving the thus transmitted signals.
