Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve the exnaust efficiency of a bulb, by sealing a stem to an end of the bulb with a built-in control body for the passage of electric discharge and providing exhaust fine tubes, individually conducted to both ends of the passage for electric discharge formed by the control body for said passage, in said stem. CONSTITUTION:A stem 2 is sealed to the opening part of a cylindrical bulb with an opening at its one end. On a top face of the stem 2 a groove 3 crossing its central part is provided, and a pair of electrodes 4 are protrusively provided in a state at a face-to-face position by interposing the groove 3. To places in the vicinity of the electrodes 4, two exhaust fine tubes made of glass are welded, and their respective top ends are opened to the top face of the stem 2. Then the bottom end of a spirally twisted control body 6 made of glass for the pasage of electric discharge is fitted to the groove 3 in the stem 2 and secured by glass frit. Accordingly, the two exhaust fine tubes 5 being provided can double the sectional area of effective exhaust, further the passage for electric discharge being exhausted from the both ends can improve the exhaust efficiency.
