Abstract
PURPOSE: To achieve accurate holding of a sheet pile regardless of distortion and strain on the side of a retaining body by fitting a chuck finger into a retaining body in such a manner as to spiral about a vertical shaft after it is formed into semicircle in the section with a thread to be fitted into a dovetail groove of the retaining body.
CONSTITUTION: A mobile retaining body 2a which is free to approach to as separate from a fixed retaining body 2a for the body 1 is fixed into a guide groove 1a and at the same time, is driven by a chucking cylinder 7 so as to slide through an oscillation arm 8 oscillatably about a lateral shaft 9. Guide concave cuts 3 with a semicircle section in the center of which a dovetail groove 4 is formed on the opposed surfaces of the retaining bodies 2d and 2b. The chuck finger 5 having the thread 6 to be fitted into the dovetail groove is mounted on the concave cut 3. With such an arrangement, as the chuck finger 5 spirals freely about the vertical shaft along the dovetail groove 4, it is possible to hold a sheet pile accurately regardless of a distortion or strain on the side of the retaining bodies 2a and 2b thereby preventing the deformation of the pile.
