Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a magnetoresistance effect type head which is eliminated of Barkhausen noise by applying the magnetic field in the specific direction to a thin film having magnetoresistance effect and forming the magnetic thin film as a single magnetic domain. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic material film 6 having magnetoresistance effect is formed by having deposited in a U shape on the surface of an insulating substrate 1 by vapor deposition, plating etc. of permalloy or the like, and a magnetic material film 7 is a magnetic material film of permalloy or the like provided between the opening ends of the film 6 by way of an insulating film 8 of glass, etc. If current flows in order of a lead-out wire 3-the film 6-a lead-out wire 4 in order to convert the change in the resistance of the film 6 to change in voltage, this current is interlinked with the closed magnetic circuit by the films 6, 7 and therefore it receives the magnetic field in the specific direction determined by the direction of the current. Hence, the part of the film 6 sandwiched between the wires 3 and 4 assumes roughly a single magnetic structure. As a result, the film 6 senses only to the magnetic field rotating with respect to external magnetic fields and this makes it possible to considerably reduce Barkhausen noise.
