Abstract

PURPOSE: To carry out a coining work with good mass-productivity and improved reduction of area, by heating a working point of a sheet material to be worked with an infrared radiation, etc., in order to lower the plastic-deformation resistance, and then, by pressing with a punch in order to form a cavity.
CONSTITUTION: Infrared rays 18 generated frofm a light source 14 is irradiated from both sides upon the upper surface of a material to be worked 1a laid on a lower die 11 in order to heat a working point 19 and its neighborhood. After heating for a prescribed period of time, a punch 13 is put down in order to press the working point 19 of the work 1a similarly to authorized instances; by thus applying a coining work, a semifinished product 1b having a cavity 2 is prepared. The said heating temperature is set to 200W300°C; at these temperatures, the deformation resistance of a 18W8 stanless steel (SUS304) is about 30% smaller than that at ordinary temperatures. Since the deformation resistance scarecely changes with the temperature change within the said temperature range, the irregularity of thickness (t1-Δt1) of the semifinished product 1b after the coining work is finished is very small.
