Abstract

PURPOSE:To realize a highly efficient compressed coding, by using a predictive coding and an entropy coding. CONSTITUTION:The output of a TV camera 1 is quantized by a differential device 2 and a quantizer 3 and then converted into the 1st code through the 1st coder 6. This code which received a predictive coding receives a run length coding from a clock buffer memory 7 through the 2nd coder 8. The run length code received through a transmission line l is decoded into the 1st code with every bit plane by the 2nd coder 10 to be stored successively in a block buffer memory 11. The picture elements in the memory 11 are read successively and converted into a quantized value through a decoder 12. Then a reproduced picture is obtained through an adder 13 and a predicting device 14 to be displayed or recorded at an output device 15. As a result, a highly efficient coding is made possible with a high compressibility.
