Abstract
PURPOSE: To achieve saved labor and a higher efficiency by automatizing the measurement of the tube length.
CONSTITUTION: A material tube W on a carrier 2 is rotated with both ends thereof retained inside by a clamp 14. After a distance L is measured between a plurality of spindle heads movable forward and backward facing the length of the material tube with a laser length measuring device 8 and a reflecting mirror 9, two spindle heads advance to the position of detecting tube ends with a sensor utilizing a photoelectric element and calculates the length of the material tube from the number of pulses of a pulse generator 6 interlocked with the rotation of a pinion 5 engaged with a rack 4 provided at the spindle heads. From the finish length l' of the tube, the amounts x and y of cutting is obtained for a cutter 13 mounted on a face plate 12 of the two spindles to advance the spindle heads separately.
