Abstract
PURPOSE: To effectively remove dust and insoluble liquid contained in liquid such as oil by covering the part opposing to the liquid inlet side exposing part of the dust collecting electrode of an electrostatic dust precipitator with a dielectric.
CONSTITUTION: When dust-laden liquid flows through an inflow port 5, the electric field in the nozzle part of the port 5 is high and therefore, dust and insoluble liquid particles are polarized and are changed. The charged particles are attracted and stuck to the surface of a dielectric 7 by a counter electrode 6 and the electric field. The potential of the part of the surface of the dielectric 7 where no dust stickes is roughly the same as the counter electrode potential but the potential of the part where the dust sticks approaches to the potential of the port 5 and the partially strong part is produced in the electric field in the surface of the dielectric 7. Therefore, the dust has stronger attraction-sticking force in this part of the strong electric field, whereby dust collection efficiency is improved.
