Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve the measuring accuracy of a glass fiber bundle photodetector by surrounding the space between a light diffusing plate and a photodetector with a square or triangular mirror barrel, thereby reducing the variation in the width of the quantity of received light. CONSTITUTION:A light diffusing plate 2 of opal glass or the like is disposed at the emitting end of a glass fiber bundle 1. A photodetector 3 is disposed at distance l from the plate. The space from the plate 2 to the photodetector 3 is surrounded by a triangular or square sectional mirror barrel 4. When luminous flux 7 is incided into the glass fiber bundle 1, luminous flux 8 is emitted from the emitting end, is diffused by the plate 2, and the component incident directly to the photodetector 3 and the component of the light reflected on a mirror barrel 4 are synthesized. When the distance l is set at 1.5 times of the length of the side of the barrel, the variation in the quantity of the received light is reduced to less than 5%. Thus, it can improve the measuring accuracy.
