Abstract

PURPOSE: To increase a volumetric efficiency not only in a high speed range but also in a medium and a low speed range by a method wherein a length of a suction mani fold and the same of a passage to an air vessel and a length of passage communicating the suction manifolds with each other are made so as to be different from each other.
CONSTITUTION: The multicylinder engine 10 is divided into two cylinder groups A, B and the suction manifolds 12a, 12b are provided for respective cylinder groups A, B. Assembled passages 13a, 13b are communicated with the air vessel 15 through a common suction air passage 14. The suction air passage 14 is formed shorter than respective assembled passages 13a, 13b. Respective suction manifolds are utilized as an auxiliary air vessel, therefore, the peak of the volumetric efficiency of the suction air may be realized at a plurality of positions in the area of revolutions of the engine.
