Abstract

PURPOSE: A metal pigment composition excellent in resistance to corrosion by water, alkali, acid, etc., affinity to a resin, electrical insulation property and others, which is coated with a styrene polymer, acrylic polymer, etc.
CONSTITUTION: A monomer (A) such as a styrene, (meth)acrylonitrile or (meth) acrylic acid, is used. A metal pigment is dispersed and monomer A is added into an org. solvent (a solvent dissolving monomer A but not substantially dissolving polymer B to be prepared), in which monomer A is polymerized in the presence of a polymn, initiator and the surface of the metal pigment is coated with the resulting polymer B, to obtain a metal pigment composition of dielectric strength ≥30kV and gas evolution ≤3ml/g metal, coated with 1W30pts.wt. polymer B per 100pts.wt. metal in the pigment.
