Abstract

PURPOSE:To hold data in a computer by using a secondary battery, charged at all times, during a power failure. CONSTITUTION:The output of a rectifying circuit 9 is converted by a waveform shaping circuit 12 into a rectangular wave, which is inputted to a microcomputer 13. The microcomputer 13 checks the existence of an input and, when these is no input for a certain time, interrupts all outputs to start a routine in a power failure. During the power failure, various data are protected by an input from a secondary battery 10 charged at all times. Through the routine in the power failure, the existence of the output of the waveform shaping circuit 12 is detected and if there is an output for a certain time, the control is transferred from the routine in the power failure to continue the previous operation on the basis of data right before the power failure.
