Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain a heat resistant chromium steel having a totally tempered martensite structure with high strength at high temp. and high toughness at room temp. by further adding N to 11Cr1MoCuWNiVNb steel obtd. by adding Cu, W and Ni to 11Cr1MoVNb steel.
CONSTITUTION: This heat resistant steel for the shaft of a large-sized steam turbine rotor consists of, by wt., 0.1W2.5% C, 9.5W12.5% Cr, 0.5W2% Mo, 0.3W1.5% Ni, 0.4W1.5% Cu, 0.1W0.3% V, 0.05W0.5% W, 0.03W0.2% Nb, ≤0.7% Si, ≤1.5% Mn, 0.03W0.1% N and the balance Fe, and it is heat-treated without forming δ-ferrite. Even if one of Cu, W, Ni and N is removed, they can not produce a sufficient effect, and by the action of Cu, a toughness reduction due to N is prevented. W, Cu and N increase the toughness, yet above the upper limit of Ni lowers the strength at high temp. N is required to increase the strength at high temp., yet above the upper limit of N deteriorates the quality of the ingot.
