Abstract

PURPOSE:To keep the density of a developer at a constant level with high accuracy, by integrating the amount of the developer that is supplied during a copying of a specified number of sheets and computing and compensating the reference density value based on the integrated amount. CONSTITUTION:The output signal of a reflection density detector 5 is amplified by an amplifier 13 and then converted into a digital signal by an A/D converter 14 to be supplied to a microcomputer 15. The copying signal is also supplied to the computer 15 from the main body 16 of a copying machine. The digitlized detected density value is compared with the reference density value stored previously in the computer 15. In case the detected density value is smaller then the reference value, the toner is supplied by an amount equivalent to the difference between the reference value and the detected value. This supplied amount of toner is added to a memory. When the number of copy sheets reaches the prescribed value, an arithmetic process is carried out based on the supplied amount of toner that is added to the memory to give an arithmetic compensation to the reference density.
