Abstract
PURPOSE:To ensure a highly efficient transmission even for the light that is incident with a large incident angle to the optical axis of a light guide, by providing a spacer and an air layer on the outer and inner surface of a tube respectively and securing a full reflection on the boundary surface of the air layer. CONSTITUTION:A light guide 5 consists of a flexible and transparent tube 7 filled with the light transmissive liquid 6, a transparent end part member 8 which seals up tightly the openings across the tube 7, and a spiral substance 9 functioning as a spacer which is wound spirally around the outer surface of the tube 7 and has a round section. In such constitution, an air layer A is secured at the side of outer surface of the tube 7 asthe substance 9 functions as a spacer. As a result, a highly efficient transmission is ensured even for the light that is incident with a large incident angle to the optical axis of the light guide in comparison with the conventional case in which a full reflection is given to the boundary surface between the liquid and the inner surface of the tube 7.
