Abstract

PURPOSE:To increase machining speed in an electric discharge machining device in which a machining chip is removed by giving a reciprocating motion to an electrode or machined work, by generating the magnetic field in a machining gap. CONSTITUTION:An electrode 1 is fed by a servo motor 18 toward the direction of a work 2, and a pulse power source 3 is connected to between the electrode 1 and the work 2. A magnetic coil 6 is provided at a face-to-face position to a morable plate 8 fixed to an electrode supporting shaft 19, then a rotary switch 10, rotated by a motor 17, interupts an electric current in the coil 6 to give a reciprocating motion to the electrode 1. Magnetic heads 91, 92,... are dispersedly distributively arranged in the electrode, then a rotary swtich 12 synchronously rotated with the rotary switch 10 performs control opertion so as to cause their excitation at the time for a gap to increase between the electrode and the work 2, thus electric discharge can be easily generated between the work 2 and the electrode 1.
