Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain invariably excellent pictures and to reduce the generation of ozone, by exercising control so that a voltage applied to a transfer corona discharger will be lower when any transfer material is not passed than when a transfer material is passed. CONSTITUTION:On the start of copying, a photosensitive drum rotates and a voltage is applied to transfer corona discharger 6. This applied voltage V1 is lower than transfer voltage V2 and 0-6.5kV. Then, exposure and transfer are carried out at a transfer voltage of about 7kV, but the applied voltage is set to V1 again after the transfer material is passed. Consequently, surface potentials (a) and (b) of the photoreceptor have not any difference due to the presence of the transfer material and the voltage is 300V evenly. Consequently, an excellent picture is obtained while the influence of the trace of the transfer material due to the surface potential difference. Further, the output prior destaticizer 13 is decreased, and consequently the generation of ozone accelerating the deterioration of the developer, etc., is reduced.
