Abstract
PURPOSE: To improve the oxygen barrier property and moisture-proof property of the plastic bottle by using, as a component for constituting the wall of the bottle, a layer of copolymer which is composed of vinylidene chloride, acrylic and ethylene monomers having specific weight ratio respectively and has the specific values of an oxygen transmission coefficient and a steam transmission coefficient.
CONSTITUTION: The copolymer is composed of vinylidene chloride of 99 to 70wt%, at least one kind of acrylic or methacrylic monomer of 1 to 30wt% and at least one kind of other unsaturated ethylene monomer of 0 to 100pt.wt. to 100pt.wt. of the total amount of the aforesaid monomers. The oxygen transmission coefficient of this copolymer is 9×10-14cc.cm/cm2.sec.cmHg or less and the steam transmission coefficient thereof (JIS Z-0208) is 3×10-3g.cm/m2.day or less at 20°C and in 100% RH at 20°C. The aqueous latex or organic solvent solution of the copoymer having such a constitution is molded in dies 1 and 2 for the bottle, whereby the plastic bottle having excellent oxygen barrier property and moisture-proof property is obtained.
