Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent pollution due to ozone by installing an endless transferring belt composed of an insulating layer having >=10<10>OMEGA.cm specific resistance and an electrically conductive layer having <=10<8>OMEGA.cm specific resistance, a contact charger, rollers for running the belt and a cleaning device contacting with the belt. CONSTITUTION:Transferring belt 23 is composed of electrically conductive layer 23a having <=10<8>OMEGA.cm specific resistance, insulating layer 23b having >=10<10>OMEGA.cm specific resistance and superposed on the outside of layer 23a and adhesive layer 23c adhering layers 23a, 23b to each other. Contact charger 31 applying a voltage with porality reverse to the polarity of toner particles to layer 23b of belt 23 is installed in the vicinity of following roller 21, and cleaning device 33 provided with a blade scraping toner stuck to the outside of belt 23 is further installed. Thus, the generation of ozone is reduced to prevent the pollution of the air and the apparatus, and belt 23 is cleaned to prevent the stain of the next copied image.
