Abstract
PURPOSE:To convert a received light signal into an audible tone highly efficiently by additionally acting the thermal elastic deformation effect of a light absorbing body on an optical sound effect. CONSTITUTION:The incident intermittent light from an optical fiber 3 is illuminated on a thin light absorbing film 1 which is held in a hermetically sealed acoustic container 2. The light absorbed in the thin light absorbing film 1 is transformed into heat, and the thin light absorbing film 1 is thermally deformed. At the same time, a part of said heat is transferred to surrounding gas. The compression of the gas caused by the thermal deformation of said thin light absorbing film 1 and the increase in pressure of the gas in the hermetically sealed container are additionally acted, and the sound wave caused by the intermission of the incident light from the optical fiber 3 is detected by a microphone 4.
