Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent the trouble such as clogging owing to vibrations and perform excellent action of adsorption by using a solid-type activated charcoal having monolithic structure as the evaporated fuel adsorbing member of an internal combustion engine.
CONSTITUTION: A canister 2 for adsorbing evaporated fuel has a fuel vapor inlet port 6 communicated with a vapor generating source, a mixture outlet 7 communicated with the intake passage of the internal combustion engine and an air inlet port 2a for desorption communicated with the atmosphere. And the canister 2 is filled up with the solid-type activated charcoal 4 having monolithic structure. Since the diameter of a hole in the monolithic activated charcoal is uniform, the aeration resistance is made uniform, and therefore, the flow (c) of the fuel vapor and the flow (d) of the air for desorption to be uniform and thus the monolithic activated charcoal as an adsorbent is utilized effectively.
